Gradwell Park Retirement Village gets Planning Consent

Following the success of Charters Village at the Housebuilders awards 2014/17, LCE Architects have worked with our client Retirement Villages, to design a high quality retirement village at Gradwell Park on the outskirts of South Chailey, comprising 65 extra care units in a mixture of 2 bed apartments and cottages each with en-suite facilities and private amenity space. Other facilities include a residents club house, restaurant, laundry, hairdressers, activity rooms and landscaped communal gardens.

The scheme received Planning Consent last week and is due to commence on site in the summer of 2018.

The site covers an area of some 2.8 hectares and historically was used as a water treatment works for the former Pouchland’s hospital.

Careful consideration has been given to the existing ecology and relocating protected species as well as retaining and protecting existing trees and woodland.

The new buildings reflect the local Sussex vernacular and variety in the plan shape help provide added interest to the elevations and roof forms. For further information.
