Charters Village has been purpose-designed to suit the challenges of assisted care in its many forms, whilst at the same time providing a comfortable and homely living environment with state of the art communal facilities.
The village is centered around the existing Charters Towers, a country house set in 16 acres of land, which was known for most of the twentieth century as being home to the renowned dance and drama school, the Bush Davies School. This has become the clubhouse, the centre piece of the village, and following extensive refurbishment work it houses the communal facilities including a lounge, restaurant, orangery, bar, function room and library. Many of the original features, which echo the arts and crafts movement popular at the turn of the 20th century, are retained and used as a theme throughout the development for other areas of the village.
Apartment buildings, cottages and chalet bungalows create 88 individual properties for private ownership and a 60-bed care unit adds to the living options, providing residential, nursing and specialist dementia care.
Phases 1 & 2 are complete. Phase 3 for an addition of 31 extra-care units is currently submitted for planning.
