Station Square, Worthing

The main aim of ‘Station Square’ is to replace an underutilised brownfield site (recently demolished) with a high quality residentially-led mixed-use development supported by a new pedestrianised street linking the station with the town centre, providing a centrally focused landscaped “square” along with a hotel, restaurants, cafes, gym and supermarket. It will provide a real opportunity to act as an early catalyst for further development of the area and to set high standards of design and development. The redevelopment of the site will help to transform the perception of this part of the town and create a new and positive landmark.

The proposed development will provide:

• 378 apartments, ranging from studios to 3 bedrooms
• 30% affordable housing
• 1000sq.m of retail space
• 1800sq.m foodstore
• 1400sq.m gym
• 83 bed hotel
• 307 car parking spaces for residents, visitors and supermarket use
• Terraced roof gardens and landscaped public realm areas

The 1.47-hectare site, prior to demolition, was a highly underutilised land, with a lack of activity. Station Square provides significant opportunity for high density mixed-use development focussed on an enhanced transport interchange. The objective is to create a real sense of arrival, and departure, for visitors to the town, improving the image and identity of the town centre and setting a high standard of design quality.
