Working with the hotel operator Arora Developments, LCE Architects carried out an intensive refurbishment proposal for this central West End hotel. The project comprised of re-vitalising and overhauling the existing hotel which had suffered from a lack of ongoing investment since its completion in the mid 1970’s. A key objective being to create a 290 bed landmark hotel meeting the Selfridges Group current brand objectives.
The visual language centred on creating an iconic glass box extension for the new destination restaurant. The idea being to significantly improve the hotel’s kerb appeal and highlight its re-birth as an important part of the Selfridges brand. A thorough intensive fast-track investigation was carried out. This led to LCE Architects setting out a comprehensive package of solutions to the many complex technical and design issues involved with this demanding refurbishment project.
